This early twentieth century quirky folk art oil on board painting depicts some people who, out for a ride in an antique touring car, have come across something they have obviously never seen before—a bi-plane in the sky! The shock on their faces is palpable. The painting has a real 1920s-1930s feel. The artist created a great mood—the ritual of the ride out into the country, the stylish people, the handsome automobile, and the new wonder hovering above them in the sky. This is one of the most unique and fun paintings I’ve had in a long time. Dimensions are 15 x 22-1/2 inches, sight size, and 19 x 26-1/4 inches framed. Of special note are the unusual wood chip shims used as nails that hold the painting in place within the frame.
